Heritage Auctions achieved a total of $3,766,200 in its November 20 Watches & Fine Timepieces Signature® Auction, presenting a carefully curated selection of 220 exceptional lots spanning both contemporary and vintage horology. The auction reached a remarkable 100% sell-through rate, highlighting sustained strength in the global luxury watch market.
Leading the sale was an extraordinary A. Lange & Söhne Tourbograph “Pour le Mérite,” which realized $250,000. Limited to just 51 platinum pieces, this highly complex timepiece combines three of horology’s most sophisticated complications: a one-minute tourbillon, fusée-and-chain transmission for power equalization, and a split-seconds chronograph. With more than 1,065 individual components, it stands as a testament to the brand’s technical excellence and precision engineering.
According to Jim Wolf, Director of Watches & Fine Timepieces at Heritage, the results reflect strong collector confidence across both traditional and innovative watchmaking. Demand remained high not only for established maisons but also for independent creators pushing the boundaries of mechanical design.
Independent watchmaker Greubel Forsey delivered standout results, with the Double Balancier à Différentiel Constant, Ultra-Fine White Gold Limited Edition (No. 16/33) achieving $187,500. Its advanced construction features dual inclined balance wheels connected by a spherical differential and a constant-force mechanism, underscoring the brand’s focus on chronometric precision. Another Greubel Forsey piece, the Tourbillon 24 Secondes Contemporain, sold for $162,500.
A highlight from Chopard was the 18k white gold L.U.C. Full Strike Minute Repeater (Ref. 161947-5001), which also realized $162,500. Produced in just 20 examples, the watch features sapphire crystal gongs and a resonator, delivering exceptional acoustic clarity—one of the most advanced achievements in modern minute repeater design.
Rolex maintained its strong presence in the collector market, with 51 lots sold. Notable results included a Ref. 116508 “John Mayer” Cosmograph Daytona at $68,750 and a Ref. 228235 Everose Day-Date Oyster Perpetual at $65,625.
Additional top-performing lots included a Vacheron Constantin Traditionnelle Platinum 14-Day Tourbillon at $150,000, a Romain Gauthier “Logical One” at $118,750, and a Patek Philippe Nautilus Chronograph Ref. 5980/1A-001 at $100,000. A unique white gold flying tourbillon by Christophe Claret featuring a “Grand Feu” enameled eagle motif achieved $52,500.
